HiLook cameras
with LookoutNVR.

HiLook cameras run Hikvision firmware, so they use the same stream addresses and settings. Supported through ONVIF and RTSP.

Stream addresses

Lookout reads these from the camera itself over ONVIF. Type one in only when ONVIF is off. Put the camera's user name, password and address in place of user, password and camera-address.

HiLook

Main streamrtsp://user:password@camera-address/Streaming/Channels/101
Second streamrtsp://user:password@camera-address/Streaming/Channels/102
RTSP port554
ONVIFSwitch it on in the camera's settings
DVR and NVR channels/Streaming/Channels/<ch><01|02>

Uses Hikvision's RTSP format.

Hikvision

Main streamrtsp://user:password@camera-address/Streaming/Channels/101
Second streamrtsp://user:password@camera-address/Streaming/Channels/102
RTSP port554
ONVIFSwitch it on in the camera's settings
DVR and NVR channels/Streaming/channels/<ch><01|02>, e.g. 1701 is channel 17 main

Credentials inline as user:pass@. For ONVIF, enable it under Configuration > Network > Advanced Settings > Integration Protocol and make a separate ONVIF user.

LTS

Main streamrtsp://user:password@camera-address/streaming/channels/101
Second streamrtsp://user:password@camera-address/streaming/channels/102
RTSP port554
ONVIFLookout tries it first, then the RTSP address
DVR and NVR channelsrtsp://ip:8554/streaming/channels/<ch><01|02>

Cameras use 554. LTS NVRs and DVRs default to RTSP port 8554.

Ezviz

Main streamrtsp://user:password@camera-address/ch1/main
RTSP port554
ONVIFLookout tries it first, then the RTSP address

User admin; the password is the 6-letter verification code on the label. RTSP must be on in the app (LAN Live View). Battery and doorbell models lack it.

Before you add it

  • RTSP is usually on. Main stream is /Streaming/Channels/101 and sub-stream /Streaming/Channels/102. On a DVR or NVR, channel 3 is 301 and 302.
  • ONVIF is off by default on many firmwares and has its own user list under Network, Advanced, Integration Protocol. Create the ONVIF user there; a web user is not enough.
  • For camera events, tick Notify Surveillance Center in the linkage of every event you want (motion, line crossing, intrusion). Without it the camera never sends the event.
  • Keep the camera's clock in sync (NTP). ONVIF sign-in fails when the time is far off.
  • After a few wrong passwords (reports say 5 to 7) the camera locks the user or your IP for about 30 minutes. Fix the password once, then wait.
  • Switch on RTSP or ONVIF in the camera's settings if it ships with them off, and make a user for Lookout.
  • Set the second stream to about 640 pixels wide in H.264. Lookout records the main stream and watches the second one.
  • Give the camera a fixed address and turn on NTP, so its clock is right.

The camera setup guide has the rest.

What works

FeatureStatusNote
Live view and recording Field-proven Cameras direct, and channels through Hikvision-family DVRs and NVRs.
Import from the brand's DVR or NVR, analog cameras included Beta Reads the channel list from the recorder, analog channels included. Recording through these recorders is field-proven; the automatic import is new.
Camera-side AI events (person, vehicle) Beta ISAPI alert stream. AcuSense models tag events as human or vehicle. Needs Notify Surveillance Center on each event.
Doorbell button presses Beta Video intercom button presses over ISAPI. The least tested of the beta features.
Licence plates from plate cameras Beta Plate reads from DeepinView ANPR models over ISAPI.
Thermal alarms Beta Alarms from Hikvision thermal models over ISAPI.
Siren and light outputs Beta Alarm outputs (relays), which switch a strobe, siren or light wired to them. Named siren and light controls are not read yet.
PTZ control Not yet PTZ cameras are detected and recorded. Pan, tilt and zoom from Lookout are not built yet.
Two-way audio Not yet

Same firmware

HiLook runs Hikvision firmware. These run the same firmware and use the same addresses: Hikvision, LTS, Ezviz.

Where this comes from

HiLook: the maker's documentation, not yet checked against the full cam.

Hikvision: the maker's documentation.

LTS: the maker's documentation.

Ezviz: the maker's documentation.

Field-proven means it runs on one of our recorders at a real site today. Supported means it works through ONVIF or RTSP. Brand names belong to their owners.
