Windows installs with winget: LookoutNVR.Server for the recorder, LookoutNVR.Desktop for the viewer. Those packages are not in Microsoft's catalog yet, so use the button until winget search finds them. Linux installs with Docker. A machine with no NVIDIA card uses the edge tag, the smaller image. An NVIDIA machine uses the gpu tag, which is larger because it carries the NVIDIA libraries. See where it runs.

System Requirements
Runs on normal hardware.
You don't need a dedicated server. A solid desktop, including a Dell an office already owns, is a normal recorder. Add the camera resolutions on the sizing page before you buy a second machine.
The computer
A normal desktop is enough, including a Dell an office already owns. No graphics card is required. Add each camera's resolution on the sizing page. A second building is a second recorder.
NVMe or SSD for new footage
Cameras write all day and Review reads those files. Put that folder on an NVMe or a SATA SSD in the computer. On Windows, prefer a second drive over the system drive root.
A bigger disk for older days
A spinning disk, a larger SSD, or a share the operating system has already mounted. NFS and SMB are that mount. Lookout does not speak them. Do not record the live stream straight onto the share.

INSTALLATION STEPS

Download & Install
Run the installer on any Windows 10/11 or Server 2019+ machine. No dependencies to install - everything is bundled including FFmpeg and the AI model.

Create your account
The installer sets the recorder running as a Windows service and opens the LookoutNVR viewer. It asks you to pick a username and password the first time - that is the account you will sign in with from now on.

Add Your Cameras
Paste your RTSP stream URL or scan for ONVIF cameras on your network. Most Reolink, Hikvision, and Dahua cameras auto-discover.

Turn On AI Detection
Go to Settings, select your GPU, and enable detection per camera. LookoutNVR handles the model loading automatically.
