Start the free trialOther systems tell you "animal" a hundred times a day. Lookout groups what it sees into objects you can name. Call the cat Maple once, and the next alert says "Maple - Back Porch" instead of "Cat". Name the family cars, the dog, the neighbor's truck.
At night a camera's infrared lights up every cobweb and moth near the lens, and most systems alert all night long. Lookout spots a camera that never goes quiet on night vision, ignores that patch at night only, and keeps alerting on everything else. The camera tells you the lens could use a wipe. It does not wake you up.
"Car - Driveway". "Maple - Back Porch". The name of what was seen comes first, then the camera, so you know whether to look without opening anything.
Alerts go out through ntfy, a free app for Android and iPhone, and show up on a paired watch, including Wear OS. With Home Pro, push and remote viewing come through the Lookout app. The Android app is in early release and not on Google Play yet; an iPhone app is planned.
Turn on Fast Alerts for the one or two cameras that matter most, and Lookout checks them ahead of the others when it is busy. The car pulling in reaches your phone first.
Recordings stay on your drives. Remote access with Home Pro streams video to you through a relay only when you ask for it.
Detection runs on your PC. Cloud Vision is optional, off unless you turn it on, and sends only the single picture it is asked to check.
Lookout runs without signing up for anything. A free registered account only removes the small Unregistered mark.
Any Windows PC that stays on will do: a spare desktop, a mini PC or a home server. The sizing calculator tells you how many cameras your computer can run and how much disk you need for the days of video you want to keep.
A Lookout installer can supply the computer and cameras, run the cable and set everything up, then hand you the keys. Your footage is still yours, on a box in your house.
The LookoutNVR integration turns named objects into sensors, puts a Recent Objects card on your dashboard and fires automations the moment something is seen.
