UniFi Protect cameras
with LookoutNVR.

Cameras adopted by Protect stream through the console: switch on RTSP for each camera in Protect and Lookout records it. Older G3 cameras in standalone mode stream RTSP directly.

Stream addresses

Lookout reads these from the camera itself over ONVIF. Type one in only when ONVIF is off. Put the camera's user name, password and address in place of user, password and camera-address.

Main streamrtsp://console-address:7447/token
RTSP port7447
ONVIFNot offered: use the RTSP address

Cameras adopted by Protect stream through the console: switch on RTSP for each camera and quality in Protect. Each quality gets its own token, and the token is the password. G3 cameras in standalone mode stream directly at /s0, /s1 and /s2.

Before you add it

  • UniFi cameras are not ONVIF devices and have no RTSP of their own. In Protect, open each camera, go to its settings and switch on RTSP for the quality you want.
  • Protect shows an rtsps address on port 7441. For Lookout, use rtsp://console-address:7447/ followed by the same token, and leave off ?enableSrtp.
  • The token in the address is the password. Treat it like one.
  • Switch on RTSP or ONVIF in the camera's settings if it ships with them off, and make a user for Lookout.
  • Set the second stream to about 640 pixels wide in H.264. Lookout records the main stream and watches the second one.
  • Give the camera a fixed address and turn on NTP, so its clock is right.

The camera setup guide has the rest.

Where this comes from

UniFi Protect: the maker's documentation, not yet checked against the full cam.

Field-proven means it runs on one of our recorders at a real site today. Supported means it works through ONVIF or RTSP. Brand names belong to their owners.
